Meet Maria Lopez

María López is a multidisciplinary performer specializing in cyrwheel, aerial acrobatics, and contemporary movement. Based in Croatia and performing internationally, María brings emotion, athleticism, and visual poetry to every stage—whether in the streets, on television, or under the big top.

Professional Journey

Trained in contemporary dance and circus arts, María has spent over a decade crafting her unique style—a fusion of acrobatics, theatre, and improvisation. She’s performed across Europe, from street art festivals to high-end private events, and was a featured act on Croatian NovaTV’s Supertalent, gaining national recognition.

Training & Career Highlights

  • During 2025, Maria focused on new horizons, she decided to pause performance and focus on training Cyr Wheel and learning tango. By July she was invited to participate of Collective Auditions in Montreal, Canada.


  • During 2024 María took part in an artistic residency promoted by Croatian circus network, where she worked under the mentorship of Darragh McLoughlin. Later on, she presented her final project in Split and in “Hoop day” in Samobor, Croatia.


  • Selected for the specific formation of Cyr Wheel Maria studied at FLIC Circus school for 9 months and prepared her final project presentation.


  • Maria performed Cyr Wheel and Aerial Hoop and qualified for the semifinals in NovaTV's Supertalent television program.


  • In Winter 2022 Maria performed a solo Cyr Wheel performance of Burlesque in this resident show in Zagreb.


  • Maria won 3rd place in the Newcomer Category in the World Burlesque Games.


  • Maria was selected for an artistic residence in Cyr Wheel and Aerial Straps. There she worked with great teachers, many of whom were previously Olympic champions in Brazil. She attended classes of Aerial Straps with Jonathan Fortin in Buenos Aires and of cyr wheel with teachers from Circus School Rogelio Rivel in Barcelona.


  • During May 2018 María attended to Cyr Wheel training with Mark Glover, a recognised teacher from Rogelio Rivel circus school, to keep improving her skills.


  • María was selected to take part of cast team as aerial acrobat, Cyr Wheeler and dancer for one of the biggest show productions in Argentina on a new version for touring in Uruguay.
